On Tuesday evening, Longmont Public Safety announced that the city’s non-emergency phone lines had “not been working properly” since around 5 p.m. that afternoon. Longmont’s Public Information Officer Rogelio Mares said that the Longmont Emergency Communications Center’s phone line (303-651-8501) and all other city department phone lines were “up and down intermittently” during the day.
The outage, according to Mares, was a result of an unscheduled upgrade by the city’s vendor, and the City of Longmont worked with the vendor throughout the day in order to restore the lines.
Outages like this do not happen very often, Mares said, but the city “continually looks for new ways to ensure uninterrupted service.” Mares apologized on behalf of the City of Longmont for the “inconvenience this caused customers calling for city services.”
The 911 phone lines were not affected by this outage. The city announced that the phone lines had been fully restored at 9:15 p.m.
