Longmont to honor Boulder officer killed while responding to King Soopers shooting

The city of Longmont is setting aside May 12 for a special remembrance of Boulder Police Officer Eric Talley, who was killed March 22, 2021 responding to the fatal shooting at the Table Mesa King Soopers in Boulder.

Talley was the first officer to respond to the shooting and was killed along with nine others.

Talley will be honored at the Boulder County Regional Peace Officer Memorial Service on May 12, 4:30 p.m., at the Longmont Civic Center, according to a proclamation approved by the City Council Tuesday night.

The memorial is part of National Police Week which will be observed May 11-17 and National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15.
