Longmont United Hospital recognized with Get With The Guidelines Awards from the American Heart Association

Press release: Seven hospitals from the Mountain Region of CommonSpirit Health have received national recognition from the American Heart Association (AHA) for their commitment to providing high-quality care for patients with stroke and type 2 diabetes.

LONGMONT, CO (August 18, 2025) – The Mountain Region of CommonSpirit Health is excited to announce that seven of its hospitals have received national recognition from the American Heart Association (AHA) for their commitment to providing high-quality care for patients with stroke and type 2 diabetes. Among the seven was Longmont United Hospital. These hospitals were awarded the prestigious Get With The Guidelines® - Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, signifying a steadfast dedication to implementing the highest standards of evidence-based care.

Get With The Guidelines is the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s hospital-based quality improvement program that provides hospitals with tools and resources to improve adherence to the latest research-based guidelines. These comprehensive guidelines help ensure patients receive the best possible care, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes.

The Mountain Region hospitals that were recognized include:

  • Longmont United Hospital (Gold Plus): Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

  • St. Francis Hospital (Gold Plus): Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

  • Penrose Hospital (Gold Plus): Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

  • St. Anthony Hospital (Gold Plus): Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

  • St. Anthony North Hospital (Gold Plus): Stroke Honor Roll and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

  • Holy Cross Hospital - Davis (Gold Plus): Stroke Honor Roll and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

  • St. Catherine Hospital - Garden City (Gold Plus): Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

The gold plus award signifies that these hospitals have achieved 85% or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines achievement indicators for two or more consecutive years and 75% or higher adherence to four or more of the nine quality measures for the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke program, and 85% adherence to the Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll measures.
