The Community Food Share discovered its onsite mailbox was broken into over the weekend.
It believes any mail delivered on Saturday was taken. The mail pieces could include donations sent from supporter and could include donation information, according to a news release from the Community Food Share.
"As soon as we became aware, we quickly took steps to file a claim with the U.S. Postal Service and the appropriate local authorities," CEO Kim Da Silva said in the release.
The nonprofit consulted the U.S. Postal Service and its bank to estimate that mail sent between June 21-26 could have been included.
Community Food Share has taken further steps to increase the security to the mail delivery system "to detect and prevent unauthorized access to information," according to the release.
Those who may have sent a donation either by check or with credit card information is encouraged to contact his/her bank or credit card company to discuss possible next steps, according to the release.
No electronic information was affected by this incident, according to the news release.
