Ever found yourself reluctantly dragged to a play, only to end up giving a standing ovation by the curtain call?️ That's exactly what happened to many at the Longmont Theatre's latest production, "I Hate Hamlet" by Paul Rudnick. And boy, does it deserve every ounce of applause!

For starters, the sheer energy emanating from the stage was contagious! The cast delivered each line with such passion and precision that you couldn't help but get swept up in the story. Forget everything you thought you knew about Shakespeare - this witty, modern twist on the classic tale breathes new life into the Bard's legacy and the actors challenge in playing the role. The Lead Role, played by Longmont High School Drama Teacher, Dac Cedarberg shows that he can not only teach but also turn in a great performance. The scene stealing Ghost of John Barrymore, played by Front Range Professor of Theatre, David Wygant shows full on Talent as well, delivering a lion's share of laughs. Strong supporting roles from Frances Leary, Lou Clark, Ashleigh Bravo, and Stephanie Burnett-VanDyke add to the merriment.

The set design's attention to detail, by veteran Designer Greg Schumann, was second to none, magically transporting us straight into the heart of an old New York apartment with a gothic flair - talk about setting the perfect scene!

And the costumes by Judith Ernst,  were simply stunning... from the Shakespearean garb to the dress-up fashions to attend the opening...they became the very essence of their characters.

Now, let's not forget about the direction by Nathaniel Quinn - it’s evident there was a visionary at the helm. Each scene flowed seamlessly into the next, with comedic timing that left the audience in stitches. Laughter is, after all, the best medicine, and this show was a full-on dose!

To sum it up, the Longmont Theatre Company didn't just put on a show; they gifted us an experience - one that reminds us why we love theatre in the first place. It's a celebration of talent, art, and most importantly, the human spirit. So here's to the cast, crew, and creatives behind "I Hate Hamlet" - thank you for an unforgettable evening.

Thursday's performance is discounted and this show closes Saturday. Trust me, it’s worth every moment. Until then, I'll be here eagerly awaiting the next masterpiece. Bravo!
