A man died Monday night, July 7, after being removed from Boulder Creek on the Fourth of July as part of a rescue effort by Boulder-Fire Rescue and Boulder Police. Authorities received a 911 call at about 2:26 p.m. on Friday because the man was unresponsive and floating down the Boulder Creek near 55th and 63rd Streets. First responders began searching for the man and the police department used drones as part of the search effort.
At 2:48 p.m., first responders removed the man from the creek underpass at 61st Street. CPR was administered and the man was transported 10 minutes later to the Boulder Community Hospital. The man was pronounced dead on July 7.
There is an ongoing investigation, but the Boulder Police Department does not suspect foul play and said there is no current risk to the public.

Boulder Fire-Rescue, Boulder Police Department, Open Space Mountain Parks, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, and Boulder Rural Fire all arrived on scene as part of the search and rescue effort.
