Sergio Lee Gonzales, a 26-year-old man from Boulder, died in a parachuting accident on Friday at Vance Brand Airport.

Airport Manager, David Slayter, said he was alerted that a skydiver had been injured around 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Paramedics were on the scene and treated Gonzales for his injuries.

Gonzales was transferred to a nearby hospital where he later died, a few hours later, due to his injuries, Slater reported.

Gonzales had booked a solo jump with Mile-Hi Skydiving Center, Inc.

Slater was unable to comment on the extent of Gonzales’ injuries nor the events that led up to the incident.

An investigation is underway by the FAA, or Federal Aviation Administration. The lead investigator, Nelson Wolfmeier, also was unable to comment on the status of the investigation.
