Tomorrow, August 2, is the presentation of In the Trenches Preview: A Parenting Musical event, co-hosted by the Longmont Observer and Family Village. The event is located at Family Village, 350 Terry St. #100 from 6-8 p.m.

In the Trenches is a popular new musical (in process!) written by Graham and Kristina Fuller, Longmont locals. The couple explores the unique joys, hilarity, and craziness involved with parenting young children.

The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Guests are invited to a small afterparty following the performance.

Mosquito Spray Schedule for August 2, 2018

Vector Disease Control International, a mosquito control contractor for the City of Longmont, plans to fog the following areas for mosquitos on Thursday night, August 2, 2018. These areas are scheduled for spraying this week:

  • LM-03   Jim Hamm
  • LM-22   Sandstone Ranch
  • LM-23   Longmont, Union Reservoir
  • LM-27   Great Western / Mill Village
  • LM-34   Longmont Meadowview
  • LM-41   Stoney Ridge/Alpine Elementary

The code corresponds to a boundary map that can be seen on the West Nile virus web page.

Twin Peaks Rotary to host a traditional Chuckwagon Breakfast to raise funds for The Twin Peaks Rotary Scholarship Fund

The Twin Peaks Rotary is hosting its annual Chuckwagon Breakfast event. This event is dedicated to raising funds for scholarships for local students headed to college.

The event takes place Saturday, August 4 from 6:30-9:30 a.m. at the corner of 4th and Kimark Streets.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.

"Come and git your fill of pancakes, eggs, and sausage before the county fair parade starts," states a flyer by Twin Peaks Rotary.

Golden Ponds Parking Lot Closed for Paving Aug. 9-10

The Golden Ponds parking area will be closed for repairs from August 9-10. The parking area is expected to reopen by 6 p.m. on Friday, August 10. Delays or schedule changes are possible if "weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur," states a press release by the City of Longmont.

The city also states that "Golden Ponds Nature Area will remain open and accessible to visitors, including shelters and restrooms. Parking will be available along the south side of 3rd Avenue Place. A sidewalk just east of the main parking lot will allow visitors to enter the Nature Area and bypass the parking lot construction zone. Visitors can also access Golden Ponds by foot or bicycle from Roger’s Grove Nature Area or Lykins Gulch Greenway, which both connect to the St. Vrain Greenway along Golden Ponds."

Update on Spillway & Bridge Repair at the Golden Ponds Nature Area

The City of Longmont is happy to announce another step forward in the recovery efforts from the 2013 flood. The installation of a new concrete spillway and pedestrian bridge crossing at the easternmost pond at the Golden Ponds Nature Area is nearing completion.
The project is just waiting for handrails to be installed along the pedestrian bridge before the trail can be reopened. The installation of these handrails is expected in late August.
