"Our annual Day of the Dead celebration is one of the most festive, fun, and community lead events of the year," states Claire Studholme, head of the children and teen section at the Longmont Public Library.
This year the library will celebrate the traditional Mexican holiday on October 28th from 3-4:30 p.m.
Studholme shares that "we [the Longmont Library] have collaborated on this event with local Latina and Mexican-American residents who kindly have shared this beautiful tradition with us. It is a great event for families of all ages and backgrounds to learn about Mexican and Latin American culture. Much of the event will be shared in both Spanish and English languages and highlights our vibrant community in Longmont."
This celebration of those who have passed on will include a performance form a Longmont community theatre group, traditional baile folklórico performance and traditional food.
A few days later, on Tuesday, October 30 and Wednesday, October 31, little ghouls and goblins are invited to join in a parade through the Civic Center. Prior to the parade the librarians will read Halloween-themed stories at 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. Costumes are encouraged.
