On Thursday, October 18, the girlfriend of a 23-year-old man from Golden reported to the Longmont Police Department that her boyfriend had not returned from a planned skydiving trip. The jump was scheduled for 1:15 p.m. with Mile-Hi Skydiving.
The man is reported to have been an experienced skydiver.
A search, focused in a one-mile radius of the airport, continued until 3 a.m. until responders postponed the search until daylight. The search resumed around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19 and included the assistance of a helicopter.
The man's body was found in a field west of the airport in the unincorporated county around 9 a.m. on Friday.
According to Boulder County, "Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Boulder County Coroner's Office were notified and responded to the scene to investigate. The FAA is responsible for determining the circumstances that led up to the man's death. The coroner's office is responsible for confirming the man's identity, ensure his family has been notified, and determine the cause and manner of his death. Investigators from the sheriff's office will work in conjunction with the coroner's office in the death investigation and assist the FAA as needed."

Longmont City Council Considers Potential Enclave Annexations
City council's Executive Summary, submitted by city staff:
As the City limits have grown over time, enclaves of unincorporated parcels have been created. Unincorporated parcels that have been completely surrounded by the City for at least three years are eligible for annexation to the City under state statutes. The attached map shows unincorporated parcels that currently, or will soon, meet that criteria for annexation. The map is color-coded to highlight parcels that would be zoned residential, mixed-use or nonresidential based on the corresponding Envision Longmont land use designation. Learn more.

Josh James-Community Rights and Theresa Stets
Theresa Stets, registered independent, is running for Colorado State House District 12. So far she has been endorsed by the Green Party of Colorado, and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7. Unfortunately I’m just outside of the district. If I was in HD12, then I would have 2 candidates on my ballot that I can actually feel good about voting for this year, Cliff Willmeng for Boulder County Commissioner, and Theresa. Read more.
Cameron McKay-Let’s Fix the Homelessness Services Gap
As a volunteer with non-profits serving people experiencing homelessness around Longmont, I’ve seen first-hand what our city’s lack of 24/7, year-round homeless services has done to human beings in our community. Continue reading.
Darcy Juday-Show Me the Money: Why No Improvement in Pay Equity This Year?
We started the year full of hope and energy in Colorado. Women filled the Denver streets marching in January. Three bills addressing pay issues were making their way through the state legislature. Colorado was ranked fourth among states for its women’s/men’s annual earnings ratio of 84%, a bit better than the national ratio, 80%. Given such momentum, we expected to close the wage gap a bit this year. Read further.
Jake Marsing- Matt Jones is the Proven Leader Boulder County Needs
I met Matt Jones more than seven years ago when he was serving Eastern Boulder County as our representative in the Colorado State House. I got the chance to watch him up close when I interned in the Colorado Senate. I saw him go to work fighting every single day on Boulder County’s behalf. Continue reading here.
