The St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) would like to remind parents that there will not be Late Start on Wednesday, October 3 and that school will commence on its regular schedule.

SVVSD incorporates into its calendar each school year a Late Start day on the first Wednesday of each month with the exceptions of August and January.

For the last few years, the district has also canceled the Late Start day for the month of October. This day is usually reserved for the district's October Count Day.

According to a letter sent out to parents,

The Colorado Department of Education has identified Wednesday, October 3 as the official statewide October Count Day for the 2018-2019 school year. To comply with this state mandate and ensure maximum attendance, St. Vrain Valley Schools will have a full day of school with a normal start time on Wednesday, October 3 in place of the previously scheduled late start day.

Please make every effort to have your student arrive to school at the normal start time on Wednesday, October 3. Your assistance with this important state requirement is greatly appreciated as funding for St. Vrain schools and the important resources for our students are directly impacted by the October 3 attendance numbers. For more information, please contact your school’s front office.

On Saturday, September 29 the Longmont Police Department partnered with Ziggi’s Coffee to host another Coffee with A Cop event.

After a particularly busy and stressful week last week, many of the police officers who attended rejoiced in the fact that they had an opportunity to sit down with residents and enjoy a cup of coffee. Read more and see photos of the event here.

Opinion: Adam Steininger-Why the Innovation Center is Such a Great Place

I know this subject is low hanging fruit for an opinion piece, you either like the Innovation Center or you hate spending money, but I thought this an apt medium to express my thoughts on the place in a more folksy informal format.

The place cost a pretty penny, billions of pretty pennies (my math skills are still poor, I think that’s right), maybe a few thousand wheat back pennies as well, and plenty of other types of currency, but I truly found it to be an impressive facility for li’l’ ol’ Longmont. Continue reading.
