Wildland fire near NIST in Boulder, CO

No structures were threatened and only grass and a few trees were burned

On Sept. 26, 2021, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received the report of a possible wildland fire near the 3rd Flatiron at Chautauqua Park in Boulder County, Colorado.  Responding personnel located the fire south of that location, near the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), at 325 Broadway in Boulder, Colorado.

Fire fighters quickly contained the fire to approximately 2.5 acres and extinguished the flames.  No structures were threatened and only grass and a few trees were burned.  There were no injuries reported.  At this time, the fire is no longer spreading, but fire fighters will monitor the area for hot spots.  The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Responding agencies include Boulder Fire-Rescue, Boulder Rural Fire Department, Boulder County Sheriff's Office, The City of Boulder Mountain Parks and Open Space, Mountain View Fire and Rescue and the US Department of Commerce.
