NextLight crews, Tuesday, were expected to finish up repairs to a 144-strand fiber that was accidentally cut during road work Monday afternoon in northwest Longmont, disrupting phone and internet service to around 700 customers.

The accident happened around 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of 21st Avenue and Harvard Street, according to a NextLight news release. The line may take up to 12 hours to repair, with crews working into Tuesday morning, NextLight spokesman Scott Rochat said in the news release.

“We know how important NextLight service is to all of our customers, and our team will be working as quickly and safely as they can to restore service,” Rochat said. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience as the work is completed.”
