Life Choices Pregnancy Center is the only Longmont facility of its kind that has been targeted byr pro-abortion activists, according to Longmont Police.
The center’s offices were heavily damaged by fire early Saturday and the building’s front door and porch were spray-painted with pro-abortion messages. At least one of the messages — “if abortions aren’t safe neither are you” — has been spray-painted on other torched health clinics in the country that cater to pregnancies, according to media reports..
The messages have been linked to Jane’s Revenge, a militant pro-abortion group. Longmont Police have not linked Jane’s Revenge to the arson at Life Choices. Police Chief Jeff Satur said this week that they have several leads in the case but have not made an arrest.
Longmont Public Safety spokeswoman Robin Ericson said via email there have been no other threats or attacks on similar facilities in the city.
Boulder County Sheriff spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield said in an email that the sheriff’s office is aware of Jane’s Revenge, which “we believe to be a collection of like-minded people using some common methods or techniques, such as certain tagging behaviors.”
The sheriffs’ office can’t definitely say “that we have seen associated activity in areas” of the sheriff’s office jurisdiction, Haverfield said.
LIfe Choices “is a Christ-centered ministry providing education, support, healing and limited medical services for sexual life choices,” accoriding to its website.
Life Choices Executive Director Kathy Roberts said in a blog post that the center’s staff was “devastated and stunned by this frightening act of vandalism,” and that the facility’s staff and volunteers work“hard to provide hope, help and support for the women, men and families of our community,”
In her blog, Roberts asks clients to “continue to pray for our team, our leadership and our clients.”
Roberts asked that the facility’s supporters pray for the center and to contribute for the needed renovations at Donate » Life Choices » Longmont, CO.
She also said Life Choices is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of needs. Those interested in being added to the volunteer list should email the center at [email protected].
“We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support we have received since this incident,” Roberts said. “We continue to pray for healing and peace for all.”
