The U.S. Navy released a photo of Longmont’s Brandon Grinley working on a plaque aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in the South China Sea, which was taken last week. Grinley is a hull maintenance technician and a Petty Officer Second Class in the Navy. 

 

According to the Navy Office of Community Outreach, the USS Nimitz is “underway in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations on a scheduled deployment, demonstrating the U.S. Navy's unwavering commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

 

A Petty Officer Second Class serves as a leader and as a technical expert, and all Petty Officers have a specified rating or job, according to Military-Ranks.org.
