Photo Recap: Hundreds Participate in Longmont's National Night Out

National Night Out, a nationwide event promoting positive police/community interactions, occurred on August 5 in Longmont, drawing around 400 community members.

The City of Longmont celebrated National Night Out, an annual, nationwide event, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on August 5 in Garden Acres Park. The event was held in order to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

The event was a “touch-a-truck event,” which means that attendees of all ages could see and explore police, fire, and other community service vehicles up close. Free hot dogs, chips, and drinks were also provided for community members in attendance.

Thousands of cities, towns, and communities from all 50 states participated in National Night Out. Longmont's event drew about 400 people, according to Longmont Public Safety Public Information Officer Rogelio Mares and Interim Police Chief David Moore.

"A big thank you to the... community members who joined us last Tuesday night to chat at National Night Out," Moore said. "We truly appreciate your time and input — it's always great to connect with our community and to talk about the ways that we can work together!”
