Eldora Mountain, the backyard ski area for greater Boulder County and Colorado’s northern Front Range, is proud to launch its annual Play Forever Challenge, a month-long fundraiser providing direct financial support to help its local community navigate challenging times and continue to thrive for generations to come. This year’s Play Forever Challenge will support the creation of a new and urgently needed childcare facility in Eldora Mountain’s hometown of Nederland, Colorado.

The proposed new childcare facility project is being spearheaded by Nederland non-profit TEENS, Inc., whose mission is to support, educate, and empower local Nederland-area youth and their families to make healthy choices and thrive.

The New Explorers Learning Center Preschool will be an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable early childhood education facility that will serve the immediate and future needs of the Nederland community. The center will triple the amount of locally available year-round care and prioritize equitable access.

“Eldora is committed to helping TEENS, Inc. raise funds needed to expand childcare services in Nederland,” says Hunter Wright, Eldora’s director of sustainability and project development. “We look forward to witnessing the transformative impact the New Explorers Learning Center will have on our mountain community.”

“Once again, Eldora Mountain is stepping up to support youth and families throughout Peak to Peak and Front Range communities,” says Stephen LeFaiver, executive director of TEENS, Inc. “Over the years, TEENS, Inc. and those we serve have benefited greatly from Eldora’s generous support and partnership. With Eldora’s support we will be able to address a Nederland-area community crisis—the lack of early childhood education.”

Between February 15, 2024, and March 15, 2024, Eldora and its official vehicle partner, Subaru of America, will each match every dollar donated to the Eldora Play Forever philanthropic fund, up to $10,000. Funds raised during this period, including all public donations plus Eldora’s $10,000 match and Subaru of America’s $10,000 match, will be donated to TEENS, Inc. in support of the New Explorers Learning Center.

A successful Play Forever Challenge has the potential to raise more than $30,000 for the project. Eldora will be using on-site signage, social media, and email campaigns to raise awareness and encourage its guests and employees to donate between February 15, 2024, and March 15, 2024.

Now in its fourth year, Eldora's Play Forever Challenge saw great success during the winters of 2020/21, 2021/22, and 2022/23, raising more than $50,000 to support the Nederland Food Pantry, the Emergency Family Assistance Association, The Wild Bear Nature Center, Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance, the Native American Rights Fund, and other locally based nonprofits advocating for local communities, land stewardship, and indigenous rights.

The 2023/24 Play Forever Challenge aims to use the same grassroots fundraising efforts to support the creation of affordable, equitable childcare for the Nederland-area community to which Eldora Mountain belongs.

How to Donate: All donations are tax-deductible and those received between February 15, 2024, and March 15, 2024, will be effectively tripled by matching donations from Eldora and Subaru of America. Donations should be made directly to the Eldora Play Forever Fund, a Donor-Advised Fund established in partnership with Community Foundation Boulder County to help Eldora’s local community navigate challenging times and continue to thrive for generations to come.
