Police need help in deadly assault of 100-year-old

A 100-year-old victim of an October assault on Main Street died today and police are asking for help finding a man linked to the attack. The man was reportedly a military veteran, according to a report from Channel 9 News.

Longmont Police responded to the 2200 block of Main Street on Oct. 25 on a report of an assault. The victim, a 100-year-old white male, told a bystander that he had been pushed from behind and fell into a parked car, then to the ground, according to a Longmont Police news release.

The victim, who had limited eyesight, described the male attacker as wearing pants with a blue checkered pattern on them. A witness described seeing a black male between 40 and 50-years-old, wearing black pants with blue squares in the general area, the news release.

After the assault, the victim was taken to a local hospital. The cause and manner of the victim’s death will be determined by the Boulder County Coroner’s office, the news release states.

Officers have been investigating the case since the assault occurred. While police have canvassed businesses in the area, they are asking for anyone who may have video of the incident, or was a witness to please contact Longmont Police Detective Clark at 303-774-4392.
