With only two more weekends before St. Vrain Valley Schools return, parents are hurriedly running the aisle of local stores, frantically shopping for school supplies. But what is on the list this year?
St. Vrain Valley Schools have adopted a general list for elementary and middle school students that is suggested at every school in the district. Since the needs of high school classes are very specific, a list is not available on the district's website. However, high school students will be given a list of needed supplies on the first day of class.
Students in first through sixth and ninth grades return to school on Aug 17. Seventh, eighth and 10-12th grades return on Aug. 18. This year Kindergarten and Pre-K students will begin on Aug. 19.
Elementary student lists are divided by grade. All elementary parents are encouraged to also contribute classroom supplies such as boxes of tissue, plastic storage bags from sandwich to gallon sizes, antibacterial wipes, blue, black or red ink pens and various sizes of sticky notes.
Families unable to purchase school supplies can take advantage of the Crayons to Calculators program at each of the SVVSD schools. Those seeking a prefilled bag full of grade-appropriate supplies need only to contact the student's school and ask for a bag. These bags are stocked for students of all grade levels.
