Restaurant delivery service expanding to Longmont this fall

Local restaurants can invest in the delivery company.

This fall residents will have a new food delivery service option as NoCo Nosh will be expanding its operations from Boulder, Ft. Collins, Loveland and Windsor to Longmont.

Nosh opened in 2017 in Iowa City, Iowa when 20 restaurant owners decided they wanted an affordable, sustainable alternative to DoorDash and Grubhub.

According to Gleidson Gouveia, co-founder of Nosh, the idea caught on and restaurant owners began requesting Nosh in their area. In May 2019, NoCo Nosh opened in Ft. Collins.

Nelson Kugel, owner of Gondolier in Longmont and Boulder and current investor in Nosh and Gouveia, agreed that Nosh offers a superior experience for both restaurants and customers since it is owned by restaurants.

Similar to Grubhub and DoorDash, Nosh drivers are independent contractors. However, knowing that the drivers are the “face of the company” Gouveia said Nosh meets with all of their drivers before they begin making deliveries.

“We also focus on customer service, because we are restaurant owners doing food delivery, we’re not a tech company doing food delivery,” Gouveia said.

Like any food delivery service, Gouveia expects mistakes to be made, but he believes their customer service model is more authentic in trying to satisfy the customer’s needs when mistakes are made. First they apologize, ask how to make it right, offer redelivery and finally credit the customer’s account or give them a free delivery coupon.

“(Customer service) is a huge importance to me as we are in the hospitality business and if you can’t take care of your guests in the best way possible you start to lose them,” Kugel said.

Kugel said when mistakes are made with Nosh, customers can talk to a real person, from the community because the service is located in the community.

Currently, 15 restaurants are on board for the Nosh Longmont launch. The process begins with restaurants that are interested in investing, eventually expanding to restaurants that want to use the service without making an investment.

NoCo Nosh currently has over 300 restaurants, delivering food and service to customers.

“In Northern Colorado people are starting to know that if they want to go with a delivery service that is for sure that they’ll get and be taken care of then they’ll go with NOSH,” Gouveia said.

Nosh delivery services are expected to begin in Longmont in late September or early October.
