Shuttle will be repurposed to rescue dogs thanks to donation

Eight Black gives away van to Rezdawg Rescue

A former airport shuttle will now be transporting rescue dogs throughout New Mexico and Colorado.

On Wednesday, Eight Black Airport gave away a retired shuttle to the Rezdawg Rescue. The animal rescue organization was one of two nonprofits selected by the community to receive the donated shuttles.

Volunteer Dorian Macdonald said the shuttle will be put straight to use and help the group in a number of ways.

“We transport just under 2,000 animals a year throughout New Mexico and Colorado,” she said. “We put out a bunch of vaccination clinics where we take teams down including just down to Pueblo as well as down to the Navajo reservation.”

Eight Black owner Simon Chen said over 35 charities responded when his company put out the call for nonprofits who might be interested in a free shuttle van. The shuttle given to Rezdawg Rescue on Wednesday was the second vehicle Eight Black has given away since the start of the pandemic, and another will be going to Outpaws.

“We’re very big on supporting animals, in fact the other charity is another animal charity,” Chen said. “We are delighted to help.”
