Saturday runners, walkers and those in wheelchairs can line up outside Altona Middle School to await the start of Longmont's annual Turkey Trot.
The race includes a 10k course for runners and wheelchair racers and a 2-mile course for those who want a little less distance to travel.
All proceeds from the race benefit the city of Longmont Recreation Services Youth Scholarship Fund. This fund was created in 1999 and was designed to help families experiencing financial hardship gain access to recreational activities and programing through the city of Longmont.
The race will begin on the utility road behind Altona Middle School. Grandview Meadows Drive will be closed during the event — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — from Nelson Road to Clover Basin Drive. The westbound lane of Nelson Road between Airport Road and Disc Drive will also be closed for the event.
Online registration ends on Nov. 10 at noon. Late registration — which will include a $5 late fee — will be available on Nov. 12 from 4-6 p.m. at the Longmont Recreation Center and Nov. 13 at the event. To register at the event, participants must be in line no later than 8:15 a.m., according to the city of Longmont website.
