City launches Project Facilities Survey
The City of Longmont is conducting a survey to measure voter opinion of new library, recreation and cultural project facilities and renovations. The survey closes on March 8, 2023. Anyone can participate at longmontcolorado.gov/survey. In addition, some voters will receive the survey via text message or email. Spirit of Arbor Day Tree Sale
Dates are set for this year’s Spirit of Arbor Day Tree Sale! The tree sale will go from March 6-12. This year’s sale will be a little different from past years, as the tree sale will be offered via a lottery. You can enter the lottery online at bit.ly/arbor-day-trees anytime during the sale dates (in-person options are also available). Tress will be limited to one tree per resident this year. Conversation at Museum: “Being Double”
Join guest curator Gregg Deal and artists from the current Indigenous contemporary art exhibition as they share their experiences existing within American life as artists and Native Americans. People & Pollinators presentation
Join the staff from People & Pollinators Action Network to learn how to attract pollinators - like bees, butterflies, moths and more - to your yard during a special presentation from 6-7 pm on Thursday, March 16 in the City Council Chambers, Civic Center, 350 Kimbark St. During the presentation, participants will also learn why attracting pollinators is important not only for their own yard but for their whole neighborhood and city! Underwater Easter Egg Hunt
Calling egg-hunters of all abilities to search for Easter eggs in our pool! Eggs will be distributed throughout the leisure pool on Saturday, April 1 at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. Registration for this special event begins today. Building Better Cities Downtown Forum
Stating at 6 pm on Wednesday, March 8, the Longmont Downtown Development Authority is hosting a panel discussion with regional Downtown Development Authority Directors. Part of its Building Better Cities series, discussion will explore how to grow a Downtown area while still retaining its character. Other communities will share their experiences and best practices as we continue to navigate downtown Longmont’s future.
Caregiving for Young Children: The Importance of Routines course
Young children thrive on consistency and predictability! That is why establishing routines is so important! Join the Longmont Librarians and professionals from Mental Health Partners from 6-7 pm on Tuesday, March 14 for a special presentation where participants will be provided with the research on the importance of routines and we will guide participants in creating individualized routines for the children they care for. This is a free course for ALL caregivers: parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles and neighbors who care for children birth- 5 years old. No registration required. Longmont Recreation Services and the Longmont Museum offer a wide range of summer day camps, including a rich variety of single and multi-day camps with various themes. Registration is currently open for Museum camps including Water Dances, Dino Explorers, Strum & Hum Ukulele Camp, Comics & Manga and Upcycled Fashion; Recreation Services registration opens Wednesday, March 1 for local favorites including LEGO®, Skyhawks® and CARA team sports programs, art, Flix animation, chess and more! Drop-in board game night at Library
The winter doldrums getting you down? Grab some friends and family and spend the evening playing board games (and maybe some giant lawn games) at the Longmont Library from 5:30-7:30 pm on Thursday, March 9. Sustainability Explained: Water & Drought
Do you want to learn easy ways to save money and use less water? Are you curious about the future of Longmont’s water supply? Join the City of Longmont’s Sustainability Office and Water Conservation Specialist at a free interactive presentation about water and drought from 1:30-3 pm on Thursday, March 9 at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave. You’ll learn how to conserve water both inside and outside your home, as well as how to sign up for a variety of free programs and discounts.
Protect your power – keep trim for winter!
Longmont’s snowiest months are still ahead, with weather that can easily break branches and endanger your power line. Have a professional trim your trees away from the lines to keep your power on even in the coldest times. For your own safety, please do not trim the branches yourself; a list of City-licensed tree contractors can be found at the Longmont Forestry website. And remember, if you see a power line that’s been brought down, stay WELL AWAY and call Longmont Power & Communications at 303-651-8386 so the City’s electric crews can repair it.
