Coffee with Council is This Saturday

Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, June 17, at Ute Creek Golf Course, 2000 Ute Creek Drive. You can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Moore and Finley are scheduled to attend. Coffee with Council is normally held on the last Saturday of the month, but is being held early this month because several City Council members are attending the Colorado Municipal League conference. Immigration Policies Posted to City's Website

A summary of the City's policies on undocumented residents is now available online. In addition, Mayor Dennis Coombs addresses this issue in his Mayor's column in the July issue of City Line, the City's community newsletter.

Light Up the Lake at Solst-ish Kinetics Festival

In its 8th year at Union Reservoir, the Longmont Kinetics Sculpture race is an amazing event to participate in or enjoy from the sidelines. From 11 am to 9 pm on Saturday, June 24, enjoy the Kinetics Sculpture Race, the Kid’s Recycled Raft Race, live music, food, beer, the Solstice Swim, and Sculpture Burn with drumming at dusk. New this year is the Simple Craft division of the Kinetics Race. Participants can decorate their kayak, canoe, or paddleboard and traverse the same land and water course as the regular sculptures. For more information visit kineticists.org. The cost is $10 per vehicle or $2 per person for cyclists and pedestrians. Union Reservoir season passes are not valid.

Free Concert at Sandstone Ranch

The Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center offers special events, workshops and programs for the whole family throughout the summer. Arrive at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, June 20, to enjoy the scenery, lawn games and coloring table along with your picnic dinner. The evening’s main event, Americana acoustic music by Three-Legged Dog, begins at 6:30 pm. This is a free outdoor event, weather permitting. No pets are allowed and carpooling is encouraged. Open House on Downtown Parking Strategies

An open house will be held beginning at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, June 21, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue, with a brief presentation at 5 pm, so that the Longmont Downtown Development Authority and the City of Longmont can hear your comments on proposed changes for Downtown parking. The strategies, generally affecting the area between 1st and 8th avenues and Bross and Emery streets, include consistent parking time limits, additional all-day parking, and access to Downtown through all modes of transportation.

Learn About Restorative Justice in Longmont

To help community members better understand its mission and goals, Longmont Community Justice Partnership, with the help of Channel 8 volunteers, has created a film and is partnering with the Longmont Public Library to present a special screening from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 22, in the City Council Chambers at 350 Kimbark St. Don’t miss this chance to learn what restorative justice is, how it works, and how it benefits our community. Music and Movies at the Library

Head to the Library’s west patio at 409 4th Avenue to enjoy Doctor Noize’s Summer Concert from 10 to 10:45 am on Thursday, June 22. Come back on Friday, June 23, for a movie and popcorn with the Family Film Series presentation of “Finding Dory.” Movies begin at 2 pm; free tickets are distributed beginning at 1:30. Children age 9 and younger must be accompanied by a dedicated caregiver age 16 or older. Registration is not required.

Summer is a great time to keep trim – especially for the plants around your utility meters. Longmont workers read about 70,000 electric and water meters every month, and you can make that happen quickly and easily by trimming back any vegetation or landscaping near your meters. West Nile Season is Here - Get ENotifications

The City of Longmont offers an email alert system that provides customers with up-to-date information on a variety of topics including West Nile Virus. If you have an email account at home or work, you can take advantage of notices sent directly to your email address. To sign up go to the eNotification subscription page, and choose the type of news you would like to receive. Volunteer at Rhythm on the River

At the very pulse of Rhythm on the River are community volunteers! More than 200 volunteers make this annual signature event happen. This year’s festival is July 7-8 at Roger’s Grove, 220 Hover Street. All volunteers receive an official keepsake T-shirt to wear at the event, and volunteer times are between 4:30 and 10:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
