NEWS RELEASE
COLORADO SECRETARY OF STATE'S OFFICE
*************************

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (on Friday) joined Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman in a bipartisan request to Congress to urgently include additional election funding in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The request letter, addressed to House Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi, (House) Minority Leader (Kevin) McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader (Mitch) McConnell, and Senate Minority Leader (Chuck) Schumer, outlines the challenges that many states face in conducting elections during the COVID-19 national crisis.  The letter requests funding so that all states can efficiently conduct safe elections this November, including the increased implementation of mail ballots. It also requests that any funding exclude a state match requirement, which is onerous to many states whose budgets have been impacted by the crisis.

Both Secretaries have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring that elections run smoothly, not only in Colorado or Washington, but nationwide, and ask that Congress do the same.
