Betty was born to Earl Isaac Fox and Eva Bessie May Eiler Fox in Reading, Pennsylvania on December 3, 1929. She loved school as a youth and became extremely interested in science. This led her to enter Nursing School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where she excelled and was a favorite among the nurses and doctors. Betty absolutely loved being a nurse. Friends and family frequently called on her for medical advice and support. It was her passion to care for others.

Betty's relationship with Jesus was central to her faith and to her life. Even at an early age, she knew of His love. In her twenties she was taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her love for the Savior became a beacon of light. She was always sharing with others about His life and love. This was so true that she would always say at Christmas “Happy Jesus Christ’s Birthday” and she even had little cards made to hand out. You could always find Betty telling strangers to remember Jesus Christ and his love. Betty loved the Temple and was eternally blessed when she and Lincoln were sealed in the Logan Temple in Utah.

Betty knew of Lincoln Steigerwalt in High School, but it was years later that they connected by chance at a train station. Lincoln was on leave from the Army and Betty was travelling back to Nursing School. Their relationship quickly blossomed into love. Together they raised a family and experienced many happy years full of as many blessings.

Betty loved her family. She adored her redheaded grandsons and found great joy in being a part of their lives. They were the lights of her life. Betty instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the value work hard. She inspired them to enjoy life, and to love the Lord thy God and His Son Jesus Christ. Her legacy of faith and family will live on in their hearts and memories.

2 Nephi 25:26 "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source that they may look for a remission of their sins." This scripture embodies Betty’s philosophy of life.

May the Lord keep her and bless her as her work continues in serving Him.
