It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Bradley Kenneth Isaacs on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Bradley’s battle with cancer this time was short lived. Taken to the hospital on Wednesday, June 29th for paralysis of the right side, a CT scan and MRI confirmed a mass in the brain. A brain biopsy identified a Glioma on the left frontal lobe. Deemed inoperable and not treatable, we brought Bradley home with hospice care on Thursday, July 28th.
Bradley was born in Perth, Western Australia on February 17, 1994. He came to Superior, CO in 1997, attending St. Louis Preschool in Louisville and Superior Elementary School during Kindergarten and half of First Grade. Duri, on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia became his home in January, 2001. In September of 2002, Bradley was diagnosed with a Medulla Blastoma brain tumor. Treatment began in Singapore with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, which was completed at The Children’s Hospital of Colorado while on home leave the summer of 2003. After completing fourth grade in Indonesia, he returned to Superior in summer 2004, before completing fifth grade at Superior Elementary. He went to Monarch K-8 for middle school and then graduated from Monarch High School in 2012.
School was a struggle for Bradley following his brain tumor, but he managed to persevere. He began college at Community College of Denver (CCD) in the fall of 2012 with assistance from the College Living Experience (CLE) – a program that taught life skills and offered tutoring for students with disabilities. In 2016 he received his Associates of Applied Science from CCD. He then transferred to Metro State University to pursue a degree in Computer Science. He departed CLE at this time and moved out on his own, first without a roommate and then later with roommates. On May 13, 2022 he received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from MSU – quite an accomplishment.
Bradley didn’t say much, but when he did you wanted to pay attention. He had a very dry and mischievous sense of humor. Like his dad, Bradley was athletic as a child. As soon as he could, Bradley played soccer through the Boulder YMCA. He was fast and had a very good sense of the field. During the winters he learned to ski with the Breckenridge Bombers program for kids. It was difficult for Mom to keep up with him on the slopes after class – fortunately his grandmother could. He also learned to ice skate with hockey in mind before leaving for Indonesia in 2001. In 2003, as a way to recover from the first brain tumor, Bradley took up bowling. He participated in junior leagues, continuing to bowl through high school. He tried to continue later, but he found that the adult leagues were not suitable for him. At that point Bradley turned to sophisticated board games, and joined game groups in Denver. Unfortunately, the pandemic saw that come to an end.
He is survived by his mother and father, Beth and Charles Isaacs of Superior, CO, his sister Dana Isaacs of Dallas, TX and his grandmother, Charlotte Weiler of Broomfield, CO.
