JULY 4, 1938 – MARCH 11, 2021

Chloe Jane Bennett passed away peacefully March 11th at Life Care Center of Longmont after an extended illness. She was born July 4th, 1938 in Pocahontas, Iowa to Jess Peck and Florence (Lange) Peck.

She was the 2nd oldest of 6 siblings. Chloe was fiercely independent with an exceedingly dry sense of humor, loved and cherished by her whole family. She loved to go shopping for bargains with her sister Dixie, liked to collect cookbooks and loved her flower, vegetable, and herb gardens.

Chloe loved family, gardening, and was an amazing and creative cook, always sending delicious food to her family and friends. She prepared plates of goodies at Christmas time for many people. She was an enchanting story-teller, sharing fascinating stories about her life, as well as making up hilarious crazy stories for her grandkids, which they loved and still talk about today. She had a beautiful energy and spirit that she shared with everyone, a great sense of humor, and loved to laugh. She was an avid reader and was very intelligent. Her generosity was exhibited by her donations to children’s charities and religious causes. She was a great lover of music, attending live music performances as well as theater. She introduced her children to theater performances at a young age.

Chloe was a Master Barber by trade. She attended barber school in the early 60’s, one of only 2 women in the school at the time. She exhibited a pioneering spirit, and was a working woman well before it was common for women to work outside of the home. She owned D&D Barber Shop in Longmont for many years prior to her retirement in 2005. She took a short respite from barbering in the late 70’s, when she owned and operated a restaurant in Arizona.

She embodied a great faith and dedication to her church, attending the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Longmont. Bible studies with her church friends were one of her favorite activities.

Chloe was preceded in death by her husband Robert Bennett, her brother Gary Peck, and sisters Gail Driscoll, Penny Fisher, and Vicky Kantor. She is survived by her sister Dixie Ann Scott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by her children Jeri St. John, Sandy Farnsworth, and Steve St. John, all of Colorado. Her grandchildren are Teral St. John, William Farnsworth, Jessica Farnsworth, Danielle Zepp, Samantha Farnsworth, and Randi St. John. Great grandchildren include Brianne Reed-Timko, Ashlee Farnsworth, William Blake Farnsworth, Patrick Chase Farnsworth, Jacob Bullock, Judah Zepp, and Jackson Cornejo. Chloe also has 2 great-great grandchildren, Koda and Addison Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
