Cornelia “Nicky” Crossley Hyland passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021, at Brookdale North in Austin, TX. She was 96 years old.

An only child, Nicky was born on May 9, 1924, in Washington D.C., to Alfred Benton Crossley and Fay Allen. She grew up in the D.C. area and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. After graduation, Nicky attended Rollins College, in Florida, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She married Earl Lawrence Hyland on January 6, 1956. Nicky moved from Castle Rock, CO to Longmont, CO in 1991.

Nicky was a loving wife and mother; a homemaker who took great care in raising her five children. She was a dedicated member of New Creation Church in Longmont. Nicky was also a member of the Eastern Star in Washington D.C. and Promise Keepers and Women’s Aglow in Longmont. She loved to travel with Larry and has been to the Holy Land and Hawaii. Nicky’s faith in the Lord was unwavering and she was very active in her church.

She was a wonderful woman who was loved and will be missed.

Nicky was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Earl Lawrence Hyland, her son Dennis Hyland, who died in 1968 in Vietnam, and his wife, Gail. She is survived by her sons, Edward “Rusty” Blanchard (Kristin) of Round Rock, TX, and Andrew Hyland (Anne) of Falmouth, ME; daughters, Bonnie Custer (David) of Monrovia, MD, and Bridget Reighley (Steve) of Portland, ME; grandchildren, Matt Hyland, Suzanne Osborne, Annabel Blanchard, Dennis Pike, Megan Blanchard, Daniel Blanchard, Sam Hyland, Tucker Hyland, and Mary Hyland; great-grandchildren, Miles Hyland, Henry Hyland, Graham Hyland, Brett Osborne, Josh Osborne, Mia Spatola, and Eli Choi.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at New Creation Church in Longmont, CO, officiated by Nicky’s long-time Pastor, Donnie Bennett. Nicky will then be laid to rest with Larry at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
