 Don Pomranka was a homegrown Loveland boy. He was born October 30, 1935. He was granted his angel wings on July 24, 2023 to be reunited with his bride, Carol. He was 87 years old.

     Don graduated from Loveland High School in 1953. He played football, baseball and wrestled. He was class vice president. He attended CSU for a couple years where he met Carol Potter. They had their first date in Estes Park in the summer of 1956. Don then left to serve in the Army as part of the signal corps in Korea for 2 years. During this time, he and Carol kept in touch by writing letters to each other. This is how their love story began and they fell deeply in love. They married on May 31,1959. They are survived by two sons, Jay & wife Jolene and Jeff & wife Carol Anne. Granddaughters Haily and Michelle and Great Grandson Adam Jr, (AJ)

     Don and his father, Fred, owned and operated D & F Supermarket until 1972. Don then began a successful career as a "shishster" Realtor for 36 years. 

     Don was a life time member of BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1051 and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years at Foothills Gateway Rehabilitation Center.

     Don was inducted into the 2nd class of the Loveland High School Hall of Fame in 2016. Don and Carol sponsored the Unsung Hero Award starting in 1969. He painted thousands of inspirational signs for the coaches at LHS over the years. He worked many hours in coordinating fundraising. These projects include the trophy cases at LHS and Ray Patterson Field. He also served as a school board member.

     He also enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage, sports, music, musical productions, gardening and most of all spending time with his family and friends. 

     A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at First Christian Church in Loveland.  Cremation has been completed.  

     Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Loveland High School Athletics in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
