June 15, 1932  -  September 21, 2023

Born June 15, 1932, in Westminster, Colorado to Margaret and John Lukacsy, proud Hungarian American Elsie Bridwell grew up riding her horse to school and playing the piano. She graduated from Westminster High School in 1950 and married Lowell Bridwell in 1952. They had two children, Michelle and Paula.

Elsie and her family lived in Colorado, North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas, before she returned to Denver in 1997. During her 35 years in Texas, she worked as a title clerk at McRee Ford in Dickinson. She also volunteered at the Galveston Opera House, enjoyed cooking breakfast on the beach with all her friends, traveling, playing bridge with The Magnificent Seven, and being involved with the Catholic Christian Renewal Center in Dickinson.

Upon retiring here, Elsie volunteered helping children learn to read at her local elementary school and in her neighborhood. She also got involved with the Holy Family community in Denver as part of the Alter and Rosary Society. She was known for calling, writing letters, cards, sending pictures and cartoons clipped from the paper, never forgetting a birthday, and becoming a second mother to the children of her many friends when their parents passed.

Elsie loved being a grandmother most of all to Chelsea, Taylor, Stephanie, and Carlos. She traveled with, babysat, and shared their accomplishments. Uma, as the grands called her, was known to call them the hour they were born on their birthdays. She also became the official grandma to the fur babies of the family –her home becoming a kennel whenever anyone was out of town.

In celebration of Elsie’s life, please wear purple to the mass at Holy Family Church on Wednesday, September 27 at 10 a.m. A reception will follow.

Elsie was predeceased by her parents, John V. and Margaret Humay Lukacsy and sister, Helen Lukacsy. She is survived by Michelle Bridwell (John Matthews), Paula Reynolds (Steve Reynolds), Chelsea Evans (Tyler Evans), Taylor Reynolds, Carlos Matthews, Stephanie Reynolds.
