August 18, 1920 - March 02, 2021

Fern Wolaver gracefully left us to join her maker after 100 years of bringing joy to this world. She was born in Mead, CO to Joseph and Alma Patton Milner, attending schools in the Loveland area, and graduating from Loveland High School.

On October 8, 1939 Fern wed Warren Wolaver and moved to Buckhorn Valley where they raised their three children.  She was active in her children’s school and other activities. Fern & Warren farmed, owned and operated cherry orchards, and built a cherry packing facility that they operated for about 10 years.

Fern found her passion in politics and served as, governor appointed, Public Trustee for Larimer County as well as State Vice Chairman of the GOP for a number of years. She loved running political campaigns and worked as a Congressional Aide for Senators Hank Brown and Wayne Allard.

Fern was on the Session and served as a Deacon of the Buckhorn Presbyterian Church in Masonville. Sunday’s she was either singing in the choir or teaching Sunday school.

As a Grandmother she was very active with and supportive of all of her grand & great grandchildren, making her respected and well loved by all of them.

Fern was preceded in death by Warren, her husband of 80 years, her grandson, Stuart Stump, great grandsons Lane Swedlund and Austin Heath, brother Paul and sisters Netha, Enid & Cleo.

She is survived by her daughters Emily Stump (Bud), Cleora Conner (Richard), son Dale Wolaver (Bonnie), grandchildren Kevin Stump, Brian Stump, Rebecca McShane, Matt Heath, Roy Wolaver, Jake Wolaver and Debbie Hammer, seven great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Fern Wolaver was a lady before her time, breaking barriers for women in business and politics and will be greatly missed.
