JANUARY 21, 1926 – MAY 21, 2021

Glen Morrell, 95, of Longmont passed away at his residence on May 21, 2021. Glen was born January 21, 1926 in Longmont, Colorado, the son of Scott N. Morrell and Ketha Marie (Johnson) Morrell. Glen married Shirley (Billie) Lea Mason on March 25, 1948 in Raton, New Mexico. She preceded him in death in 1996. The union blessed the couple with a son, Richard Glen Morrell. Glen lived in Longmont the majority of his life. When he was younger, he worked on the family farm, on the outskirts of Longmont, picking raspberries.

Glen later attended Longmont High School and in 1941 moved with the family to their other farm located outside Erie, Colorado. Glen completed his high school studies in Erie and graduated from Erie High School in 1942. Upon graduation Glen immediately joined the US Navy following in his two older brothers’ footsteps, who also joined the Navy during WWII. Glen was honorably discharged from the Navy in May of 1946.

Returning to Longmont Glen began his career first as a cook at the Spur Restaurant, then worked for Steckel Auto Parts as an automotive machinist, then to Porter Brothers in Denver in the same position, and finished his career at Longmont Auto Parts. In 1954 Glen built a home on the East side of the family farm in Longmont where he lived until his death. After his return from the Navy, Glen joined the American Legion where he continued his membership for 71 years. While in the Legion Glen enjoyed fishing in his boat at Beaver Lake and had one of the first trailers at the lake. In later years, Glen and Billie enjoyed traveling both by automobile and in their motorhome. Glen was a member of the First Christian Church, later LifeBridge, for his entire life. He suffered hearing damage while in the Navy and eventually became totally deaf. Glen lived in silence for most of his life never complaining of his disability.

He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. In addition to his wife, Glen was preceded in death by his parents Scott and Ketha Morrell; and his brothers Francis, James, and Donald (Bud) Morrell.

Glen is survived by his son Richard Morrell; his granddaughters Marcy Morrell Keim (Joe), Shelly Morrell Woodall (Ken), Lisa Tait; and great grandchildren Ashley Morrell Schneider (Greg), Megan Keim, Cody Schneider, and Connor Tait.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be announced in the coming months.
