Gloria June Whittenberg

Gloria (June) Whittenberg passed away peacefully February 28, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born February 23, 1931, to Pat and Lottie Parker in Austin, Texas. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1948. She attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She worked part-time at the Waldrup & Whittenberg Insurance Company where she was introduced to her future husband by her future father-in-law. James (Jim) and June Whittenberg were married August 12, 1952. They were married 48 years, until Jim’s death in 2000. She traveled extensively being the wife of an Air Force Officer. As a newlywed, she followed her husband to Japan, Watertown, New York and then back to Texas, Wyoming, the Philippines, and Missouri before retiring in Fort Collins. June enjoyed playing bridge, cooking southern dishes, travelling and her family. June was a devoted wife and mother to son’s James Jr and Gary. In her later years she was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She never lost her Texas accent. She was a kind, gracious, quiet, and loving person who had many friends from playing Bridge, the Air Force Officer Clubs, and her Church Circle.

June is survived by her son Gary (Jacqueline) Whittenberg; grandchildren, Katie, Brenda, Rachel, Kelsey, Lauren, and Nick; and 13 great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; son, James Jr.; and her parents, sister and two brothers.
