James Truman Thrailkill passed away peacefully at the Tru Community Care hospice on July 28, 2022.
Jim was born on February 19, 1938 to parents Jim and Lorene (Billie) Thrailkill in Colorado Springs. He attended local schools where he won medals for swimming. He attended Colorado College in Boulder. Jim served is county in the Army as a member of the 101st airborne division, stationed in Germany. After college he worked for and retired from AT&T.
Jim was a friend to any animal. His was know for his love of nature and photograph. He was delighted to witness his beloved Avalanche win the Stanley Cup one last time before passing. Jim was something of a delightful contradiction. He was personable and gregarious while also something of a hermit. A good friend noted he was a wise man and a philosopher, humble and a humorist.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Frank Gilbert, sister and husband Barbara and Ron Bettger, brothers William (Bill) and Charles (Chuck). His is survived by brothers Robert (Bob) of Arizona and Ken, and wife Sue, of Iowa; and sister Gladys of Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and sister in-law Jean.
