February 4, 1931 - May 3, 2024

Janet Elizabeth Roufs was born February 4, 1931 in a sod house in South Dakota. She was the youngest of ten children. Her father, William Roufs, was a farmer and Katherine Mullenburg, her mother was a homemaker. Both her parents migrated to the United States in the late 1800s. Janet was a proud American and loved this country dearly. Following the loss of her dad's farm the family moved to Fort Collins in 1941. Janet attended St. Joseph's school through junior high. Then she attended Fort Collins High school, graduating in 1949. She married Sam E. Thomas in 1951. Together they had 5 children.

Janet's passion was children. She was a powerful advocate for Pro-Life. For 30 years she prayed at the abortion clinic to stop abortions. The lives touched by her devotion are numerous. I am sure she's already on the heavenly committee ending abortion, saving babies. It is a comfort she passed in the month dedicated to our Virgin Mother, Mary
