MARCH 14, 1933 – JULY 20, 2023

Laura Janette Masters went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 20th, 2023.

Mom preferred to be called Janette most of her life. However, the gals at the nursing home called her Miss Laura and she loved it. She was born in Chadron, Nebraska to Joseph and Ollie Hanks and had two sisters, Ollie and Loretta. She was a wife, mother, artist, seamstress, and gardener. She would always be doing something. Laura was active in church most of her life and performed as an opera singer during her time in college. She was always able to give you a smile when you needed one and was a kind person.

Her highest calling was to be a wife and mother. She would do anything for her husband and loved him dearly until the end. They worked together for several years in a private business and real estate. During early fishing trips, she would help her kids by stringing fish and even jumping into the lake to catch a fish she had dropped in order to prevent disappointing one of her kids. She was one of my fishing buddies.

As an artist, she owned her own art shop on Walnut Street for a few years. She taught China painting and oil painting until arthritis made the activity difficult. As a seamstress, she made all of her daughters’ and her clothes for most of her young life. She could regularly be seen crocheting or knitting something. Janette and her mother were great gardeners known to have green thumbs. They were good at cross breeding Irises and coming up with different color combinations.

Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Hanks and Ollie Hanks, her sister Loretta, her husband Thomas Masters, son Tim Masters, and her grandkids April Masters, Tim Masters Jr, and Dominick Musulman. She is survived by her Kids: Tom (Martha) Masters Jr, Tamra Masters Musulman, James (Jana) Masters, Allen (Jody Masters); Grandkids: Tom Masters 3rd, Luke (Vicki) Masters, John (Autumn) Masters, Jeremy Masters, Jessica (Jonathan Larsen), Kelsey Musulman, Kyrie Musulman, James Jr. and Ellisha Masters, Joey(Maria) Masters, Rachel Masters, and Jacob Masters; and Great Grandkids: Abbey Masters, Brooklyn Masters, Lane Masters, Levi Masters, Jameson Larsen, Juliett Larsen, Casey Larsen, Isla Musulman and Judah Nava, Hope Masters, Lewis, Sequoia Masters, Hendrix Masters, and Ryden Masters.

Laura loved the Lord and had a life well lived. I miss you mom.
