John Michael (Jack) Brothersen was born on December 6, 1953, in Grinnell, IA and passed away on March 15, 2024, at his home in Henderson, CO.

He is survived by his spouse Barbi Brothersen, Henderson, CO, his brothers and sisters, Patty Cline, Grinnell, IA, Peggy (David) Franklin, Spring, TX, Greg (Colleen), Hockley, TX, Pepper (Dr. Karen Taylor), Guernsey, IA, David (Debbie) Davenport, IA, Darrel (Jean), Tipton, IA, Janelle Brothersen, Grinnell, IA, brother-in-law, Bill Brant, Spencer, IA; his children Jeni Brothersen-Gorsh, Sigourney, IA, and Christian Brothersen, Lakewood, CO, step-son Brandon Welch, Northglenn, CO, and grandchildren Chase, Austin, Caden and Westin as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Jack is proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Genevieve Brothersen, sister Alice Jeannine Brant, brother Robert Brothersen, brother-in-law David Cline, great niece Loralai Nicole Gutierrez, and several childhood friends.

Jack was the sixth of ten children to Harold and Genevieve (McGivern) Brothersen.

He grew up on the family farm outside of Guernsey, Iowa and got his early education from Guernsey Consolidated and St. John’s Catholic School in Victor, IA. He attended Junior High and High School at Brooklyn, Guernsey, Malcom (BGM) Community School in Brooklyn, IA.

Jack rodeoed with his brother Pepper for a while and worked as a mechanic before starting his lifelong career as a truck driver and terminal manager.

He was married to Diane Kerber and together they welcomed a daughter, Jennifer Michele. After their divorce he moved to Denver where he and Robin Welch welcomed a son, Christian John, in 1992. He was blessed to have the opportunity to spend the last eight years of his life with his lifelong love Barbi (Loftin).

Jack was a diehard fan of the Denver Broncos football team, loved working on his cars and trucks in his free time, and found a love for cruise travel in the later years of his life. He was the ultimate professional when it came to operating trucks and managing terminal operations. He made it his goal to always do what he could to make things better. He never turned down a challenge or asked any of his employees to do anything that he wouldn’t do or hadn’t done himself.
