November 4, 1950 ~ September 19, 2020 (age 69)
Joseph Wallace Malcolm III (Joe) of Louisville, Colorado passed away in September 2020 at the age of 69. He was born in Camp Lejeune, NC but moved around the world with his sisters Sharon and Melissa and his parents Claire and Joe, a U.S. Marine.
While in school at CU Boulder, he met the love of his life, Tori. Joe was married to Tori for 46 years. They have four daughters, Amelia, Jennifer, Suzanne, and Maureen. They also have two granddaughters, Lilly and Mariah, one grandson, Oliver, on the way, and a great granddaughter, Arabella.
Joe was often a quiet man, but those who knew him well will remember him as brilliant, wise, strong, determined, fun-loving, and funny. He was an adventurous lover of nature. He hiked many of Colorado’s 14ers, camped at national parks around the country, and even traveled to Tanzania for a photo safari. Throughout his life, he traveled the world, visiting locations in North America, South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Joe loved music and attended many concerts with his friends and family. He always had a talent for finding the best seats at Red Rocks. He also enjoyed singing “Amazing Grace” or tunes by John Prine at the top of his lungs while soaking in the hot tub.
Joe was dedicated to his family and spent 32 years working for the United States Postal Service to ensure a good life for his wife and kids. He was fortunately able to retire at 55 and spend his last years enjoying life with Tori and the rest of his family, including his beloved pets. During his retirement years, he spent time reading, gardening, traveling, walking in open space nearly every day, and keeping up with his favorite sports teams. Joe was an avid and passionate North Carolina Tarheels fan his whole life, and he never missed watching a game.
Joe’s passing has left a huge hole in his family’s hearts. Party on, Joe.
Joe’s ashes will be scattered into a Hawaiian volcano, per his request. There will be a virtual celebration of his life on October 10th. Please contact his family for more information.
