December 23, 1970 ~ April 26, 2021 (age 50)

On the evening of April 26, 2021, Karen passed away after losing her battle with liver disease.  She was with family at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, Colorado. Karen was 50 years young.

Karen Westin was born in Portland, Oregon on December 23, 1970.

Karen attended Thornton High School, where she was a cheerleader.  She was very popular and well liked, which continued into her adult life. She was incredibly funny and had a highly contagious laugh. Karen was well known for her unapologetically sarcastic sense of humor.  She was always able to light up a room. Karen had a very big heart and loved helping people. She worked in hospitality, as well as the healthcare industry. She was obsessed with hippos, and surrounded herself with them, from stuffed animals to necklaces.  She loved to play Yahtzee and could figure out scores faster than anyone with a calculator. Karen was incredibly smart and as stubborn as they come. She was an amazing cook, a talent which she used to bring together family and friends on a regular basis. Karen’s children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment and source of pride in her life.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca, and her son, Matthew.

Karen is survived by three of her children: Christopher, Joshua and Rebecca, along with five grandchildren, Matthew, Cameron, Hailey, Alexis and Isabelle.  She is also survived by her father, Michael, her siblings Sheila and Michael, and a large extended family.

She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

Special thanks to the staff at Suncrest Hospice for providing comfort and support to Karen and her family.
