Doris was born to Lilian and Leonard in Kosse, Texas. She graduated from Pasadena High School in Pasadena, Texas. Doris accompanied her parents to Sinclair, Wyoming, after graduation from high school. Her father worked for Sinclair Refining Company and was transferred.
Doris met Bobby James Parrish in late Spring of 1947. Bob had a classmate, Rene Irvin Nelson, who shared his birthday of June 9th. She was having a birthday party to celebrate their special day. Rene asked Bob to bring a nice girl to their party. Bob asked the nicest gal he knew, Doris. As they say, "the rest is history."
Bob and Doris were married on September 27, 1947. They ha d three children: Claudia Gwen, Candace Kay and James Craig.
Doris and Bob were involved with the square movement as a caller and round dance cuer couple for fifty years. Once, Bob retired from Arco Petroleum, they also retired from calling and teaching round dances. Bob and Doris moved from Ferndale, Washington to Mesa, Arizona. Doris, finally, got her dance partner back.
In 2007 Bob and Doris moved to Colorado to be near their three children.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, Edwin. Doris's, son, James, passed on September 30, 2007. Doris's husband, Bob, passed on June 28, 2008.
Doris will be missed by her family and friends. Cremation has been completed. Doris requested no services. She believed that those who knew and loved her, would enjoy a good old-fashioned visit with cookies and a cup of coffee. Think of Doris, when you are able to gather with each other.
