May 28, 1962 - December 10, 2022

Todd McWhorter of Masonville, Colorado passed away on December 10, 2022 of ocular melanoma. Todd was born on May 28, 1962. He is survived by his three children, Matthew, Brooks, and Jillian, as well as his parents, Dave and Barbara, his brothers, Scott and Craig, and sister-in-law Marci.

A native to Colorado, Todd spent most of his life in the state, earning a BS in electrical engineering from Colorado State University and a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. A born researcher, Todd specialized in digital signal processing. He worked with multiple companies in his life, including at one point overseeing the installation of governors on the power systems for the QEII ocean liner. He was a Research Associate and an Instructor at CU Boulder and acted as a consultant to various university and government research projects, publishing multiple papers in the process. Eventually he started his own company, largely consulting for the federal government in his specialty. At the time of his death, he was working with a team of researchers at Colorado State University.

But his greatest loves were his three children, spending time with his family, hiking and wood working. He leaves behind a legacy of beautiful creative endeavors from his workshop such as bowls, boxes and furniture all lovingly made with a devotion to perfection which was one of his hallmarks. He also spent the last few years of his life living on his parent’s ranch, helping to tend the hay fields, working on a tiny home project, and baking breads with his mother. He was a beloved son, father, brother and uncle. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

The family invites you attend a celebration of Todd’s life to be held January 21, 2023, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the banquet room at the Pelican Lakes Golf Resort, 1600 Pelican Lakes Point, Windsor, CO. Please share this obituary and information with others who knew Todd.
