December 25, 1962 - November 10, 2021

Liza Josephine Salazar gained her Angel wings Wednesday, November 10, 2021.  Liza entered the world as a Christmas blessing, December 25, 1962 to LeRoy and Margaret Salazar of Berthoud, Colorado.

Liza grew up in Berthoud and attend Berthoud schools, graduating in 1981 from Berthoud Junior Senior High School.  After high school, Liza moved to Boulder, Colorado to start her working career as an Accounts Payable Clerk for the Hilton Harvest House.  Throughout her life she was a dedicated and hard worker everywhere she worked.  The last 17 years of her life, she worked at Metal Sales in Longmont Colorado.

In 1984 Liza became a proud single mother to Christopher Salazar.  He was her pride and joy.  After Christopher was born, she moved back to Berthoud to raise her son and to be close to her family.

Liza was a very friendly and outgoing person to everyone she met.  Liza had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it.

Liza’s siblings would often joke with her about being the “middle” child.  She would quickly remind them “Mom said the best part of a sandwich is the middle!”  Liza had an inseparable bond with her younger sister Oretta.  The two were known in Berthoud as “The sisters”, you didn’t see one without the other.

The past two years Liza was a valiant warrior fighting Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis with chemotherapy.  Sadly, she lost her battle due to Covid.

Liza will be greatly missed by her son Christopher, her father LeRoy Salazar, her siblings Geri (Abe) Rivas, Bobby (Cherry) Salazar, Rodney (Isabel) Salazar and Oretta Salazar.  She is further survived by her bonus siblings Cathy (Alfred) Gonzales, Mike (Tish) Naranjo, Georgia (Ernie) Rivas, and brother-in-law Nash Martinez, aunts and uncles Bino (Phoebe) Salazar, Richard (Cathy) Salazar, Joe (Joyce) Naranjo, Manuel Naranjo, Roger (Karen) Naranjo and Mary Naranjo, several nephews, nieces, Great Aunts, cousins, and many friends.

She is joined in eternal rest with her mom, Margaret Salazar, sister Carmen Martinez, nephew Brian Naranjo, grandparents Eligio & Rosenda Salazar, Jose & Josephine Naranjo, Ed and Cleo Ward, many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Liza’s favorite color was Green, in her honor if you can, please wear Green for her services.

Visitation will take place from 3-5:00 pm Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home.  A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Foothills Garden of Memory in Longmont.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
