October 17, 1935 - January 16, 2022

Martha Mary (Moran) Lapp, 86, of Loveland, Colorado passed peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, October 17, 1935, to Michael and Mary (McMullin) Moran, Martha was the oldest of six children.

Martha met the love of her life, Louis Lapp, and they were married on January 28, 1956, in Pittsburgh, PA. Lou and Martha were married for 38 years before his passing in 1993.  Their first home was quickly filled with children, two daughters and three boys. In 1963, Lou and Martha moved to Colorado with their growing family, adding two more children in the following years. In 1983 they moved to Ft. Collins. Martha worked as a bookkeeper at Cashway Lumber in Loveland until 2000, retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren.

Martha will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Mick, Sharon, Sheila, and Tim.

and her children, Debbie and husband Greg Gibbons, Cindi and husband Chris Sherry, Terry and wife Yong Lapp, Garry and wife Gail Lapp, Mark and wife Peggy Lapp, Steve and wife Dawn Lapp, and Tammy and husband Craig Calhoun, 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and a long list of nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her sister Arlene.

Martha was very proud of her large family. At every opportunity, she would sit with each of them, patiently listening to them tell her of the exciting events of their lives.  Her greatest treasure of all was memories she made at summer picnics, Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas parties, and all the days in between. Her love and undying devotion to her family was her greatest strength.

Martha was strong in her Catholic faith, was an avid reader, enjoyed crochet and gardening. She traveled to Europe in 2000 to celebrate her retirement. She was a Denver Broncos fan and loved talking about the upcoming games. She loved to bake breads and cookies, brownies, and other sweets to treat her visitors.

She will live on through the endless stories of the family that always end with laughter. Martha was the center of our family. She was an example of character, integrity, and wisdom, never had a cross word about anyone, although she did on occasion point her thumb at you.

Martha loved and supported everyone, all were welcome in her home, and we each experienced a piece of her giving heart.  We looked forward to each time she visited our homes, as she always arrived with a smile, and inevitably left too soon.

We all were blessed to have her as part of our lives, and words can’t express our sadness at her passing.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10:00 am, at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th St., Loveland CO 80537.  Reception to follow.
