Patricia Ann Newton French passed away on May 9. She was 91.

Patricia was born March 16, 1932 in Mead, Colorado to James Elmer Newton and Laura Cecilia Newton (Dreier), the ninth of 18 children. Patricia did all of her schooling in Mead, graduating from Mead High School in 1949. She was very active in 4H, excelling in cooking and couture. She also worked for several years as a dental assistant to the late Dr. Carr in Longmont.

In 1951, Patricia married Dale French, from Longmont, Colorado, the son of Frank and Viola French. They were married for 70 years and had four daughters: Laura, Debra,Tamara and Amy.

Patricia was very involved with activities: leading Brownie and Girl Scout troops, sewing beautiful Easter dresses, and very attentive to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She loved angels and was a writer of poetry. One of her most amazing accomplishments was her very successful preschool, Wonder World. She was well-loved and long remembered by her students.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Dale French, her parents, James and Laura Newton, and by brothers, Orbin, Raymond, Thomas, Jack, Gerald, Richard, Roland, David, and Forrest, and by sisters, Eunice, Rosemary, Roberta, Kathleen, and Maureen, and by son-in-law, Bertrand Hourcade. She is survived by her sister, Helen Newton Teter, and brothers Ronald and Marcus Newton, and her four daughters and sons-in-law: Laura French Hourcade, Debra French and David Williams, Tamara French and Clifford Martin, Amy French Belcher and Mark Belcher.

Patricia was greatly appreciated by numerous nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to her loving caregivers, Labuti Sherpa and Binay Adhikari.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 22 at 1pm at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Mead.
