July 24, 1946 ~ December 12, 2020 (age 74)

Richard John Papp passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2020 in Longmont, Colorado in his home that he had shared with his wife Carol for over forty years. He was born July 24th, 1946 at children’s hospital in San Francisco, California to John Emmerich Papp and his wife Amelia Campi. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1964 in Sunnyvale, California. He served this country in the United States Army in the Vietnam war. He married Carol Lynn Arndt on November 26th, 1971 in Ely, Nevada. In his career he worked as a mechanical design engineer. One project that he was the proudest of was, was designing the Pirates of the Caribbean amusement ride for Disney Land in Los Angeles, California. He precured parts all over the world to be implemented into the games and computers by Atari. He designed and made one of the first implantable to count the fish in the hatcheries. Later, he designed the overlays for personalized license plates and went into the Colorado prison system to teach them how to make them.  He loved racing the salt flats in his 1965 Barracuda in the early 1970s. When he retired, he began working on the families 1934 Roadster with Carol and traveling across the U.S. going to hot rod meets with their friends. He also enjoyed drawing landscapes and barns as well as silly cartoons for his grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his parents John and Amelia and is survived by his wife Carol, son Joshua, daughter Dawn, granddaughter Korrie, grandson Tyler, granddaughter Samantha, and great-grandson Jackson.
