SEPTEMBER 30, 1947 – OCTOBER 25, 2020

Robert (Bob) Ford Henry passed peacefully with family by his side on snowy Sunday, October 25th, 2020 in his 73rd year.

Bob was born in Boston, MA in 1947 to Herman and Jane Henry. The only boy in the midst of 4 amazing sisters. They lived in Michigan before settling in Miami, FL where Bob attended the University of Miami and Miami Dade Jr College. Bob was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

After being drafted by the US Army in 1969, Bob served in the Vietnam War and was stationed at various military bases. His favorite place was Germany. Throughout his service, Bob enjoyed experiences such as skiing the Alps, flying over the pyramids, sightseeing and the overall culture of Europe. Bob has been awarded numerous military honors, including the Purple Heart and Bronze star medals during his tour in Vietnam while piloting his chinook that was shot down. Due to Bobs “astute leadership” he was a top three finalist for earning the honor of Army Europe’s Aviator of the Year. Other notable medals Bob earned; Army Service ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with ‘60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal with 10th Award, Master Army Aviator Badge and two Meritorious Service Medals. Bob retired Honorably after twenty years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer Four.

After retirement from the Army, Bob settled in Colorado Springs where he worked and again retired, as a Commercial Field Appraiser.

Family was the pivotal essence of Bobs life. Bob made it a point to never miss a family reunion, holiday or his Grandgirls Celebrations and activities. Loving father to Robert Ford Henry Jr. (Lesley) and Joseph Ralph Henry (Jackie). Bob was the proud Grandfather to Hannah, Paige and Julianne Henry. Dear Brother to Susan Osborne (Doug), Martha Halcrow (Bob), Phyllis Conlin (John) and Lucille Worthmann (Tom). Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many good friends.

Bob loved football and baseball, most notably, the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. Bob had a knack for being able to tell you any random fact, player or stat from sports history. When asked what makes him smile, Bob said “beach vacations with the family”. He was also an avid train modeler, one of his favorite hobbies. Bob was a proud member of Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, Veteran of Foreign War and the Warrant Officers Association.
