April 5, 1943 ~ July 7, 2022 (age 79)

Jim was born on April 5, 1943, in San Pedro, California, to his parents, Robert O. and Doris Brintnall.

Jim attended schools in Craig and Elizabeth, Colorado. As a child, he grew up spending time exploring Moffat County learning to hunt and fish with his dad, several uncles, and many cousins. He quickly became an avid outdoorsman, which remained a core value until the end of his life. Jim enlisted in the Army in 1961, served in Germany, and earned a Sharpshooter and Good Conduct medals. Jim began working for IBM in the late 60’s. While working there, he met his wife, Genny and they married after dating for a couple of years.  His daughter, Diana was born, and then his beloved son Jimmy. As a father, Jim continued to do the activities he loved: hunting, fishing, and camping.  He was a member of the local gun club and earned many trophies in trap and skeet.  After his and Genny’s divorce, he moved to Longmont proper and continued to enjoy shooting competitively, playing bridge and cribbage, as well as dancing. Jim was known for many things, including his pecan pie and newsy notes that were sent out annually in his Christmas card. After Jim retired, he and Mary, his longtime companion, enjoyed traveling and playing cribbage together, where he lost many games to Mary.

Jim was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and the American Cribbage Congress.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Diana Brintnall: Morrison, CO; grandchildren DJ Darrah: Santa Cruz, CA, Amber Milner: Sheridan, WY, and Cody Brintnall: Spearfish, SD, and stepbrother Bob Garner: Loveland, CO; half-sisters Barb, Linda, and Pat of OR; his longtime companion, Mary Skole: Westminster, CO; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
