September 22, 1923 - January 29, 2024
Ruby was the youngest of seven Children born to Amelia McCumber Moore and Lyman Arthur Moore, on a small ranch. Her Dad was a homesteader west of Pueblo. Since her dad was a Blacksmith/farmer they always had horses to ride. Ruby spent many happy hours on horseback.
When she was eighteen, she met and Married Raymond Bethel, Brother to her sister-in-law, Chloie Bethel who was married to Ruby's Brother Elmer Moore. Soon after they were married, he joined the Marine corps and served on Okinawa. during world war two. She was so proud of him. They were married twenty wonderful years, mostly working in the timber. She loved the cabins in the mountains.
In 1962 Raymond was working for a gravel company in Salina. Kansas and he was breaking ice on the lake freeing the pump and the boat capsized,. he drowned.
After that she moved back to Loveland, got a job at HP where she worked for twenty five years. As soon as she could she bought a couple of horses, Daisy and Gypsy. She joined a horse square dance club. she really enjoyed. Then a bowling team, where she met Reuben Ehrlich.
After she and Reuben Ehrlich were married They always had horses and finally it was teams and wagons. They were in parades with their wagons, Surreys and sleds in the surrounding towns, the beautiful Surreys were used in weddings to drive the bride to the wedding and take the couple away. They raised their own buffalo and served barbecue buffalo from their chuck wagon . Ruby once drove their team pulling a wagon from the museum for Cheyenne Frontier Days.
They had a building they called the bunkhouse and Ruby served a wonderful meal to large groups. Ruby and Reuben were always so attractive in their western clothing. At stock show time we saw them walking by the stand they were shown as a western couple on TV.
After Reuben was gone she moved back to Loveland, but still drove to Milliken to meet with the seniors and to go to Johnstown Church. She kept busy with crafts, Red Hats and friends.
She looked forward to celebrating her one hundred birthday and enjoyed her party and all the friends and family,
Ruby is preceded in death by Husbands, Raymond Bethel and Reuben Ehrlich. Ruby is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
