August 13, 1963 - April 20, 2022
Larger than life personality; never met a stranger; that SMILE!!
Grant was born August 13, 1963 in Victoria, British Columbia (BC) to Russell and June (Agate) McIntosh. Grant, his parents and siblings lived in Victoria BC for many years.
Grant started playing the guitar at an early age. He made his first stage appearance when he sang with Johnny Cash at the age of 11. He began his professional singing career at 14, when he started in the Victoria BC area, and made his way throughout Canada, and then moved on to the United States in 2005.
Grant drove tour buses, managed a western wear store, painted for a model company, along with many other side jobs, to support his music and modeling work. He was the past President of the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS) model club in Victoria, BC. He was incredibly happy to find his Colorado model home with the IPMS High Plains Modelers and was truly excited to reconnect with folks who shared this passion.
In every endeavor, he wanted people to learn from him, wanted to share his love of music, modeling, and simply enjoying life. There was not a jealous bone in his body; every thought was “how will this affect someone else”. He was all about sharing the wealth when it came to gig venues for all his band friends, to sharing modeling tips within that community. He truly was a GIVER all around.
After his daughters Ashley and Nicole, the best thing that ever happened to Grant was when he met his soul mate, Lois Frederick in 2016. Lois and Grant enjoyed 5 memorable years together. Lois became the “band mom” and a “roadie” for all of Grant’s band personalities and until recently was even Grant’s private chauffeur.
Grant is preceded in death by his father, Russell McIntosh. He is survived by his wife Lois; mom June (Agate) McIntosh – Victoria, BC; sister Sherry McIntosh (Stu Berry) – Calgary, AB; sister Sandi Marvich (Mike) – San Diego, CA; daughter Nicole Jory – Salt Spring Island, BC; daughter Ashley Combs – Sidney, BC; grandson Oliver, one grandchild on the way, his aunt Ruth Spaven – Nanaimo, BC; Nephew, Patrick Rymer (Haley) and their two boys – James and Elliot; Niece, Jessica Rymer; Great Niece, Ari Berry.
Grant will be greatly missed by many. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, June 12 at 11:00AM at The Moose Lodge in Longmont, CO (Potluck Luncheon/Snack Afternoon). Grant was casual, so we ask that if you can attend, please feel free to be casual, come with a dish to share, along with memories and stories of Grant which you might want to share.
